Consideraciones bioéticas en el tratamiento del dolor
Abstract
In addressing pain, just like in other aspects of clinical decision-making, an approach of ethical nature is required. We begin by examining the dimensions of pain at its different sources, along with its components and physiopathological repercussions, its prevalence and the causes of its inadequate handling so that, from these bases, we can establish pain control as a right that is inherent to the dignity of the human being since, in its uniqueness, it suffers from experiencing pain. Then we finally make a brief ethical analysis in the light of the basic ethical principles of respect for the human individual, and of benevolence, no malice, and justice.
