Abstract

The ethical problems inherent or Rehabilitation are increasingly found in medical literature biased by the different trends derived from Principalism and Contractualism. Monsegnor Sgreccia points out in this work that rehabilitation presents more serious ethical issues related to rehabilitation objectives, its accessibility and the way informed consentment is understood. He also deals with those who underestimate the relationship between what is called quality of life and life’s respect.

Author Biography

Monseñor Elio Sgreccia, Universidad Católica del Sacro Cuore

Obispo Titular de Zama Menor. Vicepresidente de la Academia Pontificia para la Vida. Profesor Titular de Cátedra de Bioética y Director del Instituto de Bioética de la Universidad Católica del Sacro Cuore, Roma. Filósofo y Especialista en Teología, Licenciado en Letrre Classiche e Filosofía, Doctor en Bioética.

Participa en calidad del experto de la Santa Sede en los trabajos del Comité “ad hoc” de expertos del Consejo de Europa sobre el progreso de las Ciencias Biomédicas (CAHBI), Miembro del Pontificio Consejo para la Pastoral de los Operadores Sanitarios; del Pontificio Consejo para los laicos. Además es Miembro de numerosas Comisiones y Comités nacionales e internacionales en temas de Bioética.

Autor de “Manuale di Bioética”, en dos volúmenes, es autor y coautor de numerosos libros, entre lo que se destacan los  de la colección “Scienza Medicina Ética”. Ha publicado innumerables trabajos en revistas italianas y extranjeras (en inglés, francés, español, alemán y portugués)
