Abstract

Keeping in mind the difficulties arisen from the bioethical reflection and due to its profound consequences in our personal beliefs and social values, and after a revision of ethical values, this article proposes that values such as human dignity and freedom should be the fundamental of any truthful scientific, medical and social progress.

Author Biography

Francisco Javier León, Director del Grupo de Investigación en Bioética de Galicia

Doctorado en Filosofía y Letras de la Universidad de Valladolid, con especialización en Historia Contemporánea. Dentro de la Filosofía en las corrientes contemporáneas de Ética y Antropología. Ha sido Organizador de I y II Simposium Europeo de Bioética, es actualmente director del Grupo de Investigación en Bioética en Galicia (GIB)- España. Director de un Master en bioética organizado por la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Santiago. Ha sido Secretario de la Asociación Española de Bioética, desde su constitución en 1.995. Es promotor y Director de la Revista Cuadernos de Bioética, editada por el GIB, desde 1.990.
