Abstract

General considerations on basic principles are made. Those concerning American bioethics are analyzed, and several ones are mentioned such as absolute respect for human life, the dignity of human beings, respect, the principle of totality and the dual-effect principle, among others that must be taken into account at the time of making medical decisions.
