Abstract

The world´s population has begun an aging process having become quite striking in certain places, particularly in Europe and, generally, in most developed countries, where the number of aged people exceeds the young population. This ongoing process is essentially due to today's higher life expectancy confronted to low fecundity rates. The consequences of aged population are strongly felt in all economic, political, social and cultural spheres at which challenges become increasingly hard and demanding where the rate of young people able to counteract and solve this situation is low, and likely to decrease further in the course of the years.
