Abstract

This paper examines historical development of the Human Genome Project and its current situation. After a brief initial presentation, outlines some of the many ethical controversies arising from possible applications of the Project. Work takes into account the possibilities of manipulating the human genome and the problems caused by the huge investments that have been required to carry on Project. Likewise, paper intends to assess the consequences of applying the knowledge obtained by means of sequencing genome, to such concrete fields as genics therapy and eugenic manipulation. Point of view of author is based on a deep respect for dignity of the human being.
