Since the eighteen century, a new dualist trend has emerged in the health sciences towards a more mathematical vision of reality. Themodel is not new at all. What is new is the real possibility of applying it to human beings through biotechnology.

The will of the physician as a creator, not just as a palliative agentin the face of destiny, is a very difficult temptation to overcome in representing the limits of knowledge.
